  6.     I also started out with a VIC-20,
  7. after seeing those TV commercials with
  8. William Shatner explaining what a
  9. great thing this was, etc. I trusted
  10. the ol' Captain and spent $160 on a
  11. VIC-20 in 1981 I think.
  12.  
  13.     Well, playing with the VIC and
  14. learning BASIC and doing video and
  15. sound experiments rather blew my mind
  16. and I spent many hours writing
  17. labrynthine (sp?) programs with random
  18. number generators and huge look-up
  19. tables for POKEing music and video
  20. events. I had a ball and it made a
  21. huge impact on my thinking and
  22. creative processes.

  24.     I eventually connected an early
  25. music synthesizer digital-to-analog
  26. control voltage output device to the
  27. user port and used the VIC to control
  28. a large modular analog synthesizer, an
  29. unforgettable experience (and the
  30. tapes I made with that setup are still
  31. waiting to be archived to CDr,
  32. unfortunately!)

  34.     In short, one of the best $160 I
  35. ever spent. I still have that machine
  36. and it works, though it's original
  37. keyboard was swapped with a C-64's
  38. that was worn out...I mostly use
  39. C-64's now with Dr.T's "keyboard
  40. Controlled Sequencer" KCS-64 program,
  41. but I'll always love my VIC!!!
